Have you ever thought about that you wanted to change your fate? In this pixar movie 'Brave' animated in 2012, There is a scottish princess named 'Merida' who wants to change her fate. She doesn't want to be a princess. She wants to be free, but because of this thought she is selfish. She has no responsibility to be a princess. I think this movie shows that you have to have a courage to say that I'm selfish or I'm wrong about that reason.
Marida hated to be a princess. She is active and wanted to be free and do what ever she wants. We can know that because of her magnificently red curly hair. The hair is really bouncey. Her mother wanted her to be a future queen. Merida's mother was very stubborn to her but, caring for the inside. She really loved Merida. But Merida couldn't understand her mother so, she went to the forest and met a witch. She realized that the witch could change her fate. She asked her to change her fate. She brought the cake to her mother and gave it to her then, her mother changed into a bear. By the help of her brothers she let her mother out. I think it was not a very good choice to give her mother the cake. That's because she was selfish and turned her mother into a bear. but at this point I think because of the cake she knew what her mother wanted to say to her. She understood her.
I was relieved then.
She lived in the forest with her mother(the bear),and found the witch's house. The witch said that if you want to change Merida's mother to a human, she should mend the bond. I was curious to know what it ment. Merida and her mother met Mor du the evil bear that ate Merida's father's leg. Merida then knew what to do. She had to sew the tapestry. She went to the castle to stop the clans fight. When she does that, she was able to understand her mother's mind. And could persuade the clans. That to find your own fate. Then Merida's father discovered her mother. Her mother was run after her father. Merida hurried to sew the tapestry. She put the tapestry on her mother. But, she didn't change so Merida grabed her neck and cried. Then her mother changed into a human. Merida was relieved. After these events she knew that hating makes people murderous and evil.
This movie was fun to watch and taught me that we have to be independent, brave and coose our own fate.It teaches un to understand adults. I think I won't forget this movie
Nice~!
ReplyDeleteYour writing is clear and well organized, but you spend too much space on summarizing the movie instead of responding to it.
ReplyDeleteDoes Merida really hate being a princess or does she hate being her mother's version of a princess? Does a princess have to "perfect" in that way? What is it that Merida is really rebelling against?
Does being selfish really turn people evil? Is Merida brave for being free-spirited? Is she brave for changing?
